Goose's Gloss and glitter has moved to a new address: Goose's Glitter
I did this mainly because I figured it's must easier to type the new address and also because I thought "Goose's Gloss and Glitter" made it sound like more of a makeup blog (which it's not... I hardly ever even wear makeup at all!)
Anyway, see you there!

Barielle Misbehaving Mistress
Today I have for you some pictures of Barielle Misbehaving Mistress. This has to be one of the most awesome colors I own. In some lights it looks just like beautiful dark pearls, while in other lights it looks more brown, and other times is looks more like a dark metallic charcoal. No matter what, it's AMAZING. Check it out!
You can see in the second picture that it shows brushstrokes just a tid bit, but really, it's only SLIGHTLY noticable in certain types of lighting (like direct sun). Otherwise it just looks mostly like a smooth pearly or metallic finish. Such a unique color, and I own nothing even remotely close to either the base color or the finish of this polish, not to mention that it's very flattering on as well! I think this has definitely made it into my collection of absolute favorites!

Halloween NOTD and Nfu-Oh giveaway!
Since it's October now, I'm getting super excited for Halloween, which is my favorite holiday!! I found a picture of a manicure like this a while back and wanted to replicate it, but it didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped...
Bear with me that I had to photograph my right hand for this one (which is surprisingly awkward and difficult!) because my Little Bird decided to wreck on of my nails on my left hand. Also, I had my left ring finger nail tear WAY too far down, so I can't clip and/or file it off. I'm in the process of finding a way to repair it; I tried Orly Nail Rescue, which seems to be fine, but I may put a thin layer of clear acrylic over it until it grows out enough to file it down. Anyway, please ignore the ugly bump on my middle finger that comes from writing too many notes in my aerospace classes!

China Glaze Marmalade & Art Club black striping polish
I used China Glaze Marmalade for the chevrons on the tips, then an Art Club black striping polish. For some reason, when I put Poshe topcoat on it, it pulled the black!! It looked kinda cool, but I would have preferred it to stay where I put it... :o)
I have some of the OPI Burlesque glitters and a few of the China Glaze Holiday 2010 collection coming from Transdesign.com sometime this week, so hopefully I will have come swatches for you soon!
Oh, and Michelle from The Lacquer Files is having a giveaway of the awesome Nfu-Oh 51! Such an awesome color! Check out her swatches and enter the giveaway here!

NOTD - Midnight Mission
Today I'm wearing China Glaze Midnight Mission from the Fall 2010 Vintage Vixen collection. I have to say I wasn't really excited about this color when it came out, but now I am SOO glad I got it.
The awesome thing about this polish is how it looks like a true navy or denim blue no matter what kind of lighting. Even in in dim lighting is still looks beautifully blue and not black. In addition, it looks amazingly sparkly in the sun! It's also nice and easy to put on in two coats. I think it is one of my new favorites!

Lincoln Park After Dark and Nfu-Oh 49 Matte
So for today, I figured I'd give the matte version a shot, even though the manicure is getting a little ragged at this point. I used China Glaze Matte Magic.
I really like the matte version! It looks even more like fall leaves! What do you think? Matte or shiny??

NOTD - Lincoln Park After Dark and Nfu-Oh 49
Today's NOTD is a pretty cool one, but one that you've probably seen before elsewhere. I used OPI Lincoln Park After Dark for the base, then one coat of Nfu-Oh 49 on top. I really like it, 'cause it looks a little like fall to me.

A couple more NOTD and an excuse
This photo is actually a NOTD from a few months ago (who knows when). It's China Glaze Four Leaf Clover with China Glaze Medallion over the top. I actually got this idea from a post on All Lacquered Up (here). Isn't it awesome??
And now comes the excuse... one of the reasons I haven't been posting is because my nails have been in transition. See, for the last four or five years, I've had gels on my nails, both to keep them strong and to not have to worry about painting them. Of course, one of those doesn't apply anymore (since I'm now obsessed with nail polish and like to paint them every couple days), so I decided to grow them out. Since gels cannot be soaked off with acetone (I think maybe some can, but not these), it was a VERY long process to grow them out. And of course, pieces chipped off sometimes and they wouldn't buff down perfectly smooth, so mostly they were NOT nice enough to photograph.
But now that the gel is completely gone, I'm having fun taking care of my nails and painting them often, as well as taking pictures of them! So here we are now, with nice new natural nails!
Visions of Sugarplum was an Ulta exclusive for Holiday 2009, and since it was free with an OPI purchase, I didn't think much of it at first. But when I tried it on, oh my gooses, it was gorgeous! I think it's glass fleck glitter because it's easy to take off, and I think it's kind of similar to a blackened Zoya Mimi.

NOTD - Blue/Teal Glitter Gradient
Hi all! So I think I'm gonna try to get back into posting more on the blog, and here's the first post since April!
For my NOTD, I used Claire's Twinkle on the entire nail, then painted a glitter gradient with Claire's Glam. I think it turned out pretty awesome, but it looks a little washed out in these pics. Hopefully you get the idea. Here's another pic, and I kinda like this angle (let me know what you think!).
I'm still working on getting colors correct, but it'll get eventually, I promise! :o)

Master Chief Green
Ok, so I was all ready to put up this big long post with all the new jelly polishes I've gotten, but then this post ended up being so much more AWESOME.
Brett and I both LOVE video games - the Halo series is one of our favorites. Needless to say we BOTH have a huge crush on Master Chief, so I've been searching for the perfect Master Chief Green, and I think I've finally found it... maybe.
Sinful Colors - Show Me the Way
AKA: MASTER CHIEF GREEN
It's still pretty sparkly, and I may not have waited long enough for the topcoat to dry (I'm so impatient, haha), but it was still not exactly what I was going for. So I tried China Glaze Matte Magic:
Whoa. Yes, THAT is what I was looking for. It brings out more of the true color of the polish instead of the color of the shimmer. Of course, I had to test the theory and put it up next to a REAL Master Chief to see if it was indeed a match... (haha, I wish! But alas, it's just the collector's edition helmet)
I love that you can see me taking pictures in the reflection, heehee :o)
Although it's still a tiny bit brighter, I think it's pretty darn close!!

In this picture, it is a little bit more yellow green bright than in real life, where it looks slightly more dusty and olive. Just a tid bit more subdued, but not much. I asked Brett what he thought, and he said it was too sparkly. This is true. At this point it was too "gorgeous" to be MC... So I figured maybe a satin topcoat like Orly's Nails for Males would do the trick:

I might end up buying another one (since it's only $1.99 at most Targets, Walgreens, and CVS's) to try to Franken it a little bit grey-er. I also think it would be really cool to have one accent nail done in an orange chrome or even better, orange MINX!
What do you think? Do I have a match? Is this the perfect Master Chief Green?

Amaranth!!
Oh my gooses, I got New York Summer Amaranth!! I'm SOOOOOO happy right now! I'm sure I will post pics soon.

Zoya Sparkle Swatches
Zoya - Ivanka
This green is AMAZING and is a little tiny bit more yellow green than in the photo, but it's pretty close.
Zoya - Charla
Gorgeous teal blue! It's actually quite a bit more green (more true teal) than it shows, and absolutely mesmerizing in the sun!!
Zoya - Mimi
I have a lot of purples (including Milani Totally Cool and Hot Topic Iridescent Purple), but this one is still different. It's almost like the little gold-ish flecks stay underneath the surface, so they appear more rosy-purple. And still crazy sparkly!
Zoya - Alegra
So this one really surprised me. It's PERFECT. I don't normally like pinks much (I'm more of a blue/green/purple polish kind of girl), but I didn't want to take this one off. I started wishing I'd swatched this last so I could just leave it on. I think it might be my favorite *gasp*.
Zoya - Gilda
So apparently I didn't do a good enough job of capturing the difference between Alegra and Gilda. Gilda look much more "hot pink" than Alegra, which is more of a magenta.
Zoya - Gilda (sun)
It was at this point that I realized I should probably be taking pics of these in the sun as well to show the crazy sparkle... after I'd already swatched the others... oh well.
Zoya - Nidhi
Pretty awesome color, and it really stands out from the rest because the base is much more creamy and opaque. Really, really cool.
Altogether, I'm SO in love with this collection. I took the set to show my mom and sister and they decided they need a set of them as well! I usually never feel the need to buy a whole set of nail polishes because not all of the colors are "me," but even the pinks and reds in this one were so PERFECT, and I'm even considering that I need a backup set... whoa.

Some random Ulta polishes to get this blog going!
So I woke up this morning to find that I already had TWO followers! How awesome is that! So in celebration (and just for the fun of it) I'm putting up a few random nail polish swatches that I thought were somewhat worthy to be posted.
These are a few I just picked up from Ulta because of their $2 nail polish sale.
Ulta - Sun-Sational
Ulta - Goddess
Ulta - Diva
I actually ended up liking different ones than I expected here. I was surprised that Goddess was opaque in only 3 coats, since it looked like it would be quite sheer. Diva on the other hand was a little goopy and remained sheer the whole time. Sun-sational was probably my favorite and it wasn't too bad for being a yellow polish. It was a little streaky on the first coat, but coats 2 and 3 made it look very nice! Pretty, creamy, sunny yellow!

Hello and welcome!
After stalking many a nail-polish-blog, I've finally decided to start one of my own! I am still figuring out how to blog as well as take pictures which accurately portray the various nail polish colors. For now, I would love any comments and suggestions you have for me!
Here is a picture of the wonderful polish that made me feel the absolute need to start my own blog: Charla from the new Zoya Sparkle Collection. The color in this one is SO amazing, and I'm still trying to find a way to capture its crazy teal sparkle. Let me know what you think and I'll try to post images of the rest of the collection in the next few days.
Zoya - Charla
I also want to thank the many other blogs I have been been following that have inspired me to start this one. You should definitely check these out if you haven't seen them already - they are amazing!
